Werk It Weekends: Cincinnati SneakerBall
One of the most anticipated galas of the year is upon us. Fashionable fundraising is the name of the game this weekend, as charitable foundation, Bigger Than Sneakers hosts its event of the year: the Cincinnati SneakerBall! This is the 6th year of this spectacular event, and it will be one for the books.
Saturday, August 10th, guests can expect to be entertained, and inspired at this charity event. The event will be taking place at the grand TQL stadium in downtown Cincinnati. Bigger Than Sneakers Executive Director Natalie Morean is confident that this venue will impress guests with its well appointed amenities and design, “TQL is one of the nicest MLS stadiums that we have in the nation, so the foundation is there for us to continue just growing on the experience, continuing to elevate the experience.”
Founders Matt Tomamichel and Tammy Scott, started the Better Than Sneakers foundation back in 2018, after noticing a need for charitable organizations who focused on raising funds for other charities in need in the area. With Tomamichel’s strong background in retail, (he is the owner of popular sneaker boutique Corporate in Hyde Park), and Scott’s years of experience in sports marketing, the two set out to build and grow` this Cincinnati based, 501 C3 organization.
Bigger Than Sneakers has been providing service to the community in unique and impactful ways since its inception. “Over the holidays, we typically do a holiday coat drive and partnership with Dose of Dex, and over the last two years we’ve been able to give away hundreds of coats, all donated by either our charitable partners, volunteers, and people that support our organization. These coats are getting directly into the hands of our families in need and the community” explains Morean, “We’re also able to do youth programming, so we do that annually around the year, in all three cities, whether it be foot wear design workshops or color workshops. [We want to] Continue to get that exposure out to youth in our community that they’re so many things that you can do surrounding sneakers if you have an interest or passion and sneakers that are all these lucrative careers.”
Though the SneakerBall is one of the most sought after and anticipated events of the year, there is still much work that Bigger Than Sneakers does throughout the year, and they could definitely use help from those able to give of their time and/or their funds. “I would definitely say get connected with us. Morean advises, “Whether it be on social media, [or] get connected to our newsletter, because we regularly send out volunteer opportunities, program opportunities, fundraising opportunities, as well.”
Guests are expected to come dressed to the nines, wearing their most fashionable sneakers to complete the looks! If you are interested in attending, but have yet to purchase a ticket, run, don’t walk to The SneakerBall’s ticket page to snap up a ticket before they’re all gone.
