Straight from Our Pages: Cincinnati After Dark

One of our favorite things about the Greater Cincinnati Area is how beautifully it lights up at night. The Queen City skyline is one of the most underrated in the entire country (in our very humble and probably biased opinion). These Images were taken at the beautiful Hotel Covington on March 18th of 2020. As many of you may remember, the entire state of Kentucky shut down, following our Ohio neighbors and the rest of the country. Fortunately, this was the last photoshoot for the Cincinnati Style Report Spring 2020 Issue. Unfortunately, we were all on lockdown and experiencing some unprecedented things at the time that the actual magazine was released. AND IT WAS OUR FIRST MAGAZINE EVER RELEASED!

All in all, this shoot was MAGIC. During this shoot, we got to enjoy the beauty of Hotel Covington in a way that is unusual in nature. It was completely empty except for staff and 5 guests, because travel was shut down and events were canceled. The emptiness of this lovely place forced us to really take in the details and beauty of the architecture, the interior design, the lighting, and the music. We are so grateful to Hotel Covington for allowing us to shoot there for our first issue.

Another magical thing that happened during this shoot is that models were born. We had the pleasure of working with newbie Taja for her FIRST EVER shoot. Her boyfriend saw our open model call and convinced her to sign up. He drove her to the shoot and cheered her on as she blossomed into a fashion model before our very eyes and camera lens.

Another newbie, Laura signed up and showed out in her first photoshoot with us as well! Bridget was our 3rd model for this shoot and boy, was she FIERCE. The way she commanded her poses with such confidence was empowering and inspiring. This photoshoot was done in spite of everything falling into chaos, uncertainty, and for many of us, grief as so many lives were lost during the pandemic. One thing that remained the same that we can all be grateful for is that when our hearts could handle it and needed it most, there was and still is beauty to be found, admired and appreciated in the Greater Cincinnati Area.
